UNDER 18S DENIED BY LATE PENALTY

Northampton Town's youth team travelled to Gillingham in the Football League Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday.

A controversial injury time penalty denied the Cobblers victory, with the home side pulling back to 2-2 from the spot after Tom McGowan and Tom McBride had scored to put Sean Parrish's side ahead.

"We conceded to go behind early on but we bounced back very well," said Parrish.

"I was delighted with the effort and commitment of the lads and I thought we deserved to be ahead going into stoppage time. We were disappointed with the penalty decision and I felt for the lads because they deserved to win.
