PARRISH PLEASED WITH YOUTH TEAM'S CUP SUCCESS
Northampton Town youth team coach Sean Parrish was pleased to see his side claim some silverware at Sixfields on Thursday night when they lifted the Northamptonshire FA's County Youth Cup.
"It was nice to get the win but overall I was a bit disappointed with the team's performance," said Parrish.
"On the plus side we won the game and it is nice to finish the season with a bit of silverware but I thought we could have maybe won the game by more goals.
"You want to win every competition you enter and we've achieved that but with the Chairman and Sammo watching I was just a bit disappointed that a few of the lads didn't perform as well as they have done this season.
"It's been a long hard season so to end it with a trophy is nice though and we can now go away and rest up for a few weeks.
"We will give them fitness programmes to go away with over the summer and hopefully they will come back ready and raring to go next season.
"Some of these boys have the opportunity to be pushing for the reserves and then the first-team squad next season and it is upto them to come back in pre-season and work hard to try and catch the manager's eye.
"I'm disappointed Joe Benjamin was the only player to get a professional contract this year but it's all about development and if we can get two or three lads through to the first-team every season then that would be great."
