UNBEATEN RUN GOES ON FOR UNDER 18S
Northampton Town's youth team beat Rushden & Diamonds 2-0 at Moulton College on Saturday in the Football League Youth Alliance Cup.
Injuries in the first team squad meant that a number of under 18 players had travelled to Bournemouth as cover. That opened up opportunities in the youth team for some under 16 players, and they responded well and helped the Cobblers under 18s maintain their unbeaten start.
Joe Benjamin scored the opening goal, with a penalty from Ross Oulton rounding things off.
"The lads who came in took their opportunities well and impressed," said Youth Team Coach Sean Parrish. "We were very pleased with the performance and this display has shown that we have real competition for places this season."
