Northampton Town's youth team welcomed Peterborough United to Moulton College in the Football League Youth Alliance on Saturday.

The Cobblers eventually won a dramatic and thrilling game 2-1, with action from first minute to the last.

Shaun Goodall fired a penalty over the bar for the Cobblers inside the first 60 seconds, before Freddie Avill was dismissed midway through the first half.

Goodall made amends for his earlier miss by putting the Cobblers ahead, while Shawn Richards added a second before the break.

Cobblers keeper Jake Suckling saved a twice taken penalty in the second half as the Posh put the Cobblers under pressure, and eventually they did pull a goal back to set up a tense finish.

However, Sean Parrish's side survived 5 minutes of added time to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

"The lads dug in well and really stuck together," said Parrish.

"The game had just about everything, but I was delighted with the way we overcame the sending off to show real determination and record a very good victory against a strong and determined Peterborough side."
