Northampton Town's youth team travelled to Rushden & Diamonds on Saturday for their first match of the season in the Football League Youth Alliance.

The game ended 2-2, with Sean Parrish's side twice being pegged back after taking the lead.

"We were under pressure a little bit in the first half but we recovered well and Joe Benjamin gave us the lead," he said.

"Rushden equalised before half time but in the second half we took control of the game and took the lead through Greg Taylor. We had more than enough chances to kill the game off but we paid the price for not taking those chances when Rushden equalised again.

"We were disappointed not to have won - we created enough chances to have got all 3 points."
