40 young people from Daventry Primary schools are taking part in Olympic themed 'Summer Challenges' at Northamptonshire Study Centres over the summer holidays. The students will have fun and get to know others going to their secondary school in a motivating and 'wow' environment of the Cobblers and Steelbacks study centres and their professional sports clubs.

The aims of the programme are to increase children's confidence in themselves and working with others in preparation for their move to Secondary school in September. Each day students will investigate different Olympic and Paralympic values, such as respect, friendship and courage, through animation, the latest technology, sports and arts activities.

The events are being organised by UFA Northants (University of the First Age) and Northamptonshire Study Centres in Northamptonshire County Council. Both teams work with young people and adults to extend and enrich learning opportunities out of the school day. School staff from William Parker and Danetre Schools are supporting the event to aid pupils' transition to Secondary school in September.
