Study Centre Team finalists in Northamptonshire County Council Awards

On March 26th, staff members from the Cobblers Study Centre attended Northamptonshire County Council Celebrating Success Awards 2009 at the Park Inn Northampton. Northamptonshire Study Centres, based at sporting venues across Northamptonshire, were one of five finalists nominated in the 'Team of the Year' category. The team were nominated for gaining widespread recognition for their success in supporting schools in raising standards and pupil achievement, attendance and motivation. The Cobblers Study Centre provides an interactive sports environment which when coupled with personalised learning programmes means that the educational, social and cultural needs of each and every child that attends the Study Centre are met. The work of the Northamptonshire Study Centres based at the Cobblers, Saints, Steelbacks, Diamonds and Silverstone provide and demonstrate the power of working with community partners to engage, enrich and empower children and young people in the learning process.

Spring Term Presentation Evening

At the end of March, teachers and parents from across the town attended a presentation evening in the Sixfields Stadium to celebrate the achievement of students who were taking part in Playing for Success at the Cobblers Study Centre.
NTFC Mascot Clarence the Dragon rewarded students with a certificate and goody bag for their hard work over the term. Extra prizes were also handed out to winners of the Champions League from each evening group. The Champions League is an extra prize that is awarded to young learners who consistently work well as a team, are polite and helpful and complete each weeks challenges successfully.
A special commendation also goes out to a group of girls from Northampton School for Girls who were awarded certificates for completing a Junior Football Organiser course at the Study Centre last term. The JFO course has been designed to offer training in three main areas: planning & organising a fun football session for young people; refereeing mini-soccer games and organising and administering football festivals.
Congratulations to all young learners from Hopping Hill, Duston Eldean, Kingsthorpe College, NSG and the Kic.In2.Study group for their achievements throughout the term.
