Northampton Town Football Club are delighted to announce a Sportsman's Dinner with England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton OBE and TV presenter and snooker personality Willie Thorne.

This will take place at Sixfields on Friday 2nd March 2012 with further entertainment from Steve Sherrington, a 5 times award winning magician and a member of the Magic Circle.

Tickets are priced at just £40, which includes a 3-course meal. VIP groups of 10 are available for £500, and this includes a Champagne Reception and a group photo with Peter and Willie.

The evening will include entertainment from host Willie Thorne, with an after dinner speech and Q&A session with Peter Shilton. There will be fundraising on the night and a grand auction, to raise money for the Northampton Town Youth Department.

This event is sponsored by Foam Techniques with Aspers Casino, Northampton the associate sponsor.

Peter Shilton OBE
England goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton has gained more caps for England than any other player and he was the youngest player to play for Leicester City at the tender age of 16 - taking over from the equally legendary Gordon Banks.

Throughout his amazing 30 year career he played for 11 English league clubs through which he accumulated a record 1,005 League appearances. In 1977, Shilton joined the newly promoted Nottingham Forest, who went on to shock the footballing world by winning the league title on their return to the top flight. Even bigger success followed as Shilton was a big factor in Nottingham Forest winning two successive European Cups.

In his record 125 National appearances, the England team won 66 of their games. He was still playing at international level in the 1990 World Cup at the age OF 40.

Perhaps one of the most remembered moments in Peter's career was in 1986 when he became the victim of Maradona's 'Hand of God' and the famous individual goal the same player scored when snaking through the majority of the England side before rounding Shilton to score. During his playing career, Peter won the PFA player of the year and has received the MBE and OBE for his services to football. In 1990, after his retirement, he was awarded the Order of Merit by the PFA.

Willie Thorne
Willie Thorne is the current World Seniors Snooker Champion. His playing career has been showered with success, with a total of 14 tournament victories worldwide. 'The Great WT', as he is affectionately known, was a regular in the top 16 World Ranking players for well over a decade. Willie is the World Record holder of the highest number of 147 breaks in the history of snooker (190) earning him the nickname 'Mr Maximum'.

Mr Maximum is well known as a TV Celebrity with numerous appearances, including hosting 16 shows for Sky called Cue Masters. Willie is now a TV commentator for all the major snooker championships, on Sky TV, ITV and BBC, maintaining his status as a household name.

Willie Thorne has few peers in British Sport. Due to Willie's vast experience of TV appearances and presenting, combined with his instantly recognisable features, Mr Maximum has established himself as one of the UK's leading after dinner speakers, auctioneer, host and MC.
