COBBLERS SUFFER NARROW LOSS AT PLAINMOOR

DAVIS MAKES PLAYING RETURN

Liam Davis made his comeback from injury by playing 45 minutes for the Cobblers reserves in a behind closed doors friendly at Coventry City on Tuesday afternoon.

Gary Mulligan scored the goal for the Cobblers in a 1-1 draw, but the big news was the return of Davis.

"Liam got through 45 minutes which was the plan," said boss Ian Sampson.

"The game did him good, and it was also important to get football into some of the other players who have not played too much lately with so few reserve games.

"The weather, plus the amount of first team games we have had has meant that the lads who haven't been in the starting XI have not had too much football lately so they will have benefited from this game."

Meanwhile, Sampson also confirmed that Luke Wilkinson has returned to Portsmouth at the end of his month on loan at Sixfields.
