YOUNG RESERVE TEAM BEATEN AT LUTON
Northampton Town's reserves suffered a 2-1 defeat against Luton Town in their latest Football Combination fixture at Kenilworth Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite the result, a young Cobblers side impressed reserve team boss Ian Sampson, particularly with their first half display.
"We played very well in the first half and knocked the ball around with confidence," he said.
"We created a number of half chances but did not really test their keeper as much as we should have.
"We were 1-0 down at the break but that became 2-0 when we paid the price for a ragged spell at the start of the second half but we regained our composure and ended the game strongly.
"Joe Benjamin got a goal back with a good finish and despite the result there were plenty of positives to take from the performance of a very young team."
