YOUNG RESERVE SIDE EDGED OUT AT IPSWICH
A very young Northampton Town reserve side were beaten 1-0 at Ipswich Town on Monday afternoon in the Pontins Holiday Combination.
With a couple of injuries in the first team squad, added to the Cobblers not wanting to risk other players picking up knocks, Ian Sampson fielded a side made up mainly of young professionals and youth team players
In contrast, the home side included Gavin Williams, Sylvain Legwinski, Luis Castro Sito and Fabian Wilnis.
Ipswich, who had beaten MK Dons reserves 12-1 in recent weeks, enjoyed the majority of possession but the Cobblers created enough chances to have claimed something from the game.
"I was very pleased with the effort and commitment and the lads worked their socks off to restrict an experienced and talented Ipswich side ," said Sampson.
"We created some good chances and both Shaun Goodall and Danny May could have scored near the end but the way the lads battled was first class."
