SAMPSON PLEASED AS RESERVES CLAIM STEVENAGE SUCCESS
Joe Benjamin, Ian Henderson and Liam Dolman were all on target as the Cobblers reserves claimed a 3-0 win in the Pontins Holiday Combination at Stevenage Borough on Wednesday night.
Ian Sampson named a side that included Gabor Gyepes, Adebayo Akinfenwa, Andy Holt, Ian Henderson, Danny May, Alex Dyer, Chris Dunn and Liam Dolman, and Sampson admitted he was pleased with the performance.
"We scored three quality goals and it was a good performance with all of the lads doing well," he said.
"Adebayo Akinfenwa got through 90 minutes and he will have benefited from that. We saw his strength and his ability on the ball. He has got a lovely touch and he held the ball up well, bringing others into play.
"Gabor Gyepes will also have benefited from the game. He got stronger and stronger as the game went on and he played his part in what was a good all round performance."
