BURNELL RETURNS TO ACTION AS RESERVES WIN AT MK
A young Northampton Town reserve side overcame a more experienced MK Dons team to record a 2-1 victory at stadium:mk on Monday night to record their second successive Pontins Holiday Combination victory.
Ian Henderson gave Ian Sampson's side the lead in the first half before they were pegged back, but youth team striker substitute Joe Benjamin headed the winner midway through the second half.
Joe Burnell completed 90 minutes on his return from a hamstring injury, and that was just one of the pleasing factors for Ian Sampson.
"Joe got through the whole game without any problems," he said.
"We started the game brightly. We took the lead with some good combination play from Ryan Gilligan and Ian Henderson that saw Hendo find the net, and although we had to soak up some pressure and found ourselves level at 1-1, we came back strongly in the second half to win the game."
