SAMPSON DELIGHTED WITH WIN OVER LUTON
Reserve team coach Ian Sampson was pleased with his young side after they recorded their first victory of the season.
"It's nice to get off the mark," he said.
"The young players did really well and I thought the back three of Brett Johnson, Mark Haines and Nick Thorogood were all excellent.
"Alex Dyer, Greg Taylor and Sam Maude really got amongst them and we passed the ball round well in midfield, especially in the first half.
"We went off the boil a bit in the second half but we soaked up the pressure well and I was delighted with the win.
"For the goal Alex closed their keeper down well and it just shows that if you put the effort in more often than not you get the rewards.
"It was important that Ian Henderson got 90 minutes, he worked hard and he'll reap the benefits having played a full game."
