YOUNG RESERVE SIDE BEATEN AT GRAYS
Northampton Town's reserves travelled to Grays Athletic in the Pontins Holiday Combination on Wednesday evening.
A very young Cobblers side, made up mainly of youth team players, were beaten 2-0.
"Given the injury situation in the first team we had a very inexperienced side," said Ian Sampson.
"We struggled to compete physically with the older players and it was a steep learning curve for the lads.
"The youngsters will go back to the youth team on Saturday, playing against players of their own age and hopefully they will have benefited from this experience."
Cobblers: Chris Dunn, Tom Gernon, Richie Jones, Nick Thorogood, Freddie Avill, Shawn Richards, Naveen Arain, Danny May, Greg Taylor, Shaun Goodall, Joe Benjamin. Subs: Ben Judd, Jake Suckling, Ross Oulton, Sam Maude, Mark Haines
*Shaun Goodall has signed work experience forms for Woodford United, meaning he can play for both the Cobblers and Woodford.
