CHAIRMAN HAPPY WITH COUNCIL RELATIONSHIP
Chairman David Cardoza is delighted with the way the club's relationship with Northampton Borough Council is progressing.
"Our relationship with the council is very good, David Kennedy, the new Chief Executive, understands development and what football can bring to the local economy," he said
"He is very understanding of what we are trying to do and the great thing is he wants to see the re-development happen.
"They seem to be behind us and I think the Liberal Democrats know the feel good factor a thriving football team can bring to the local community.
"We are quite close to getting some sort of decision and we are still involved in a lot of meetings but at some point those meetings have got to stop and things have got to start moving.
"It's difficult with these things to put a time frame on it but I'm hopeful that in the next few months we will have something very significant to say.
"I think, as a club, we do a lot of things well but we are always looking to improve.
"Our community involvement is fantastic, our football in the community scheme sees more than 50,000 kids a year and does some great work but I'd still like to see more.
"There is a lot of talk about how we need to market the club better but with the resources we've got I think we do it pretty well.
"In every boardroom I go into it's the same conversation about how do we get more people to come to the ground. Everyone tries everything but realistically the only way you get more people coming through the gates is if you are successful on the pitch together with quality stadium facilities.
"We are certainly getting things right on the pitch, I think there is a massive latent support in Northamptonshire who follow the club from afar. We are a hard core football stadium at the minute but if we can get that development I think we can really push on and then we will attract that latent support with improved facilities.
"I love Northampton, people have made me very welcome and I think we are really starting to get it right as a club.
"Off the field the staff have put in a lot of hard work trying to get us the profile that we want and we know we have still got a lot to do on that but on the field with Stuart Gray in charge I think we can really push on and getting into the play-offs is definitely a realistic aim for us next season."
