The Cobblers signed former Stoke City central midfielder Nathaniel Wedderburn on a 2 year deal in June 2010. Wedderburn won the Academy player of the year at Stoke City in his first season at the Potters, playing regularly for the youth team and the reserves. He did not appear for Stoke City's first team, but was named on the substitutes bench on a number of occasions. He enjoyed loan spells at Notts County in 2008/09 and Hereford United in the 2009/10 season and was called up to the England Under 19 squad in October 2009, before being released by Stoke at the end of the 2009/10 season.
