Northampton Town signed midfielder Kevin Thornton from Nuneaton Town in January 2010. A product of the Coventry City Academy, Thornton made his debut on 20 September 2005. He made sixteen Championship appearances later that season, putting in a string of impressive displays. In September 2008, Thornton enjoyed a twelve week loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion. In July 2009, Thornton left Coventry City by mutual consent and earlier this season he re-signed with his former club Boyne Rovers FC in Ireland. In December 2009 he joined Nuneaton Town on a non contract deal before making the switch to Sixfields. He signed a new contract in May 2010.
