Ian Sampson is waiting on the fitness of John Johnson and Ryan Gilligan (pictured) before naming his side to face Burton Albion at Sixfields on Saturday.

"It has been a tough ten days with the games coming thick and fast and sometimes that does take it's toll on the body," said the Cobblers boss.

"Fingers crossed we will have the same squad available for Saturday but we picked up a few knocks on Tuesday night and we might be forced into making one or two changes.

"Ryan Gilligan picked up a groin strain, he is probably about 50/50 and John Johnson has got a dead leg.

"Hopefully they will be okay but if they don't make it then we have got plenty of options.

"Gary Mulligan scored two goals for the reserves on Wednesday and I have to say that his attitude has been first class. It is easy for players to just go through the motions when they are not in the matchday squad but he has been excellent in training and I can't speak highly enough of him.

"I was quite happy to get my transfer business done in early January and I don't think anything else will happen on that front now.

"The lads that I brought in have put pressure on the players who are in the team and to be fair to them they have responded really well.

"Luke Wilkinson's loan spell is up after Saturday and at the moment we are contemplating trying to extend that."
