Ian Sampson could involve his recent signings, Luke Wilkinson, Stephen O'Flynn and Kevin Thornton (pictured) in his squad for Saturday's trip to Macclesfield Town.

"Liam Davis and Steve Guinan are the only two players in the squad who are unavailable for selection," said the Cobblers boss.

"Training hasn't been ideal this week, we've been on the astroturf up at Goals which isn't ideal but it's definitely better than nothing.

"In general terms there haven't been too many transfers in our league but to be honest that doesn't surprise me. There isn't that much money floating about at our level and I think it will be a pretty quiet January.

"There has been speculation about one of our players this week. I never said that we had received a bid for one of our players, we had an enquiry about someone which as of yet hasn't been followed up.

"The Chairman has backed me and allowed me to bring players in but before we bring anyone else in we probably do need to get a few players out just to balance the books a little bit.

"We are always looking at players but the Chairman isn't forcing me to sell anyone. He is leaving things up to me."
