Welcome on Saturday to the Greens Norton Beavers who have children aged from 6 to 8 attending. They are based in Blakesley and play football, rugby and cricket. They are led by Iain Noy and a number of the group support the Cobblers.

Welcome also to the Nassington Cubs and Scouts who meet in the village of Nassington, right at the other end of Northamptonshire. They are an active group and within the last year have visited the Science Museum in London and have taken part in Bowling, Laserforce, Camps and night exercises. The group ran a large model railway display at a Church Craft day, and later this month will undertake a trip to the National Rail Museum in York. They are pleased to be here to support Northampton Town. The last time leader John Miley attended a match with Tranmere Rovers, they were playing Watford at Prenton Park on 10th February 1979. The result was a 1-1 draw!

The 1st Higham Ferrers Scout group have been established for nearly 80 years, and at the current time continue to go from strength to strength, with waiting lists to join all of their groups (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts). The children range from 6-14 but their newly formed explorer scouts take the children from 14 until young adults. The aim of Scouting is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The method of achieving the aim is through the provision of exciting and adventurous activities, which brings them here today, for which they kindly thank NTFC for their generosity as hosts. None of this is possible without the time and commitment of all of their volunteers, and as with most Scout groups around the country they are always looking for more volunteers to help, whether just on an occasional basis or as a uniformed leader. They would be glad to talk to anyone interested. If you would like a further insight into modern scouting then you are now able to see a specific TV series on the community channel, Sky 539, Virgin 233 or Freeview 87. If you feel you would like to talk to the group, please contact Piers in the first instance on 01933 411441.
