Skipper Joe Burnell agreed with the assessment of his manager when he felt the Cobblers paid the price for individual mistakes in Monday's 2-0 loss at Carlisle United.

"I think we played OK but we paid for the mistakes we made and ending up losing the game 2-0," he said.

"The goals we conceded were sloppy and you just can't afford to gift teams those sorts of opportunities.

"We were all disappointed after the game and I think a few of us know that in the last two games we haven't for whatever reason played as well as we have been playing.

"I don't think Carlisle dominated the game but they perhaps had slightly the better of it and we weren't as fluent in our own play as we usually are and we could have definitely improved a bit all round.

"It's never nice losing games and I just can't wait for the game against Cheltenham on Saturday now to try and put things right.

"I think we have definitely moved forward as a team this season and we know that on our day and when we all play to our full potential we can beat anyone.

"It didn't quite happen for us at Carlisle but we've still got 6 games left this season and we will be going all out to take as many points as we can from those games and you never know what can happen in football."
