CROWE AIMING HIGH

Posted on: Wed 20 Feb 2008

Jason Crowe said he was very happy to have opened the scoring in the Cobblers 4-0 success over Gillingham last weekend.

"Up until the first goal the game was probably a bit scrappy but from then on we were pretty dominant and we could have maybe even won by a bigger margin," he said.

"We were very disappointed with our performance at Yeovil and it was important that we bounced back from that on Saturday.

"I thought we played some really good stuff at times and we made Gillingham look a very average side.

"To score four goals and keep a clean sheet was obviously very pleasing for us and hopefully it'll prove to be the start of another unbeaten run.

"I was pleased with my goal, Joe Burnell slipped the ball into me nicely, I struck it well and it was great to see it go in the back of the net. The second goal was a good strike from Bayo and then the two goals in the second half were just a bit of a great bonus for us really.

"Bayo has fitted in really well, he's a lovely lad off the pitch and he definitely gives us something a bit different, he holds the ball up well and he has got a bit of pace to go with his strength.

"There is quite a few of us now in the team who can play in a number of positions and that can only be a good thing for the manager and the coaching staff.

"We surrendered our unbeaten run far too easily at Yeovil and really there were three points up for grabs in that game. Yeovil were pretty poor on the night as well but we just never really got going and to concede in the 90th minute again was obviously very disappointing.

"We've thrown away a lot of points this season late on in games but we can't change that now, we've got 13 games left and if we can just knuckle down and get on another unbeaten run who knows where we can finish."
