BAYO WANTS TO KEEP RUN GOING
Adebayo Akinfenwa is determined to try and keep his good run of form going for as long as possible. The striker scored his 3rd and 4th goals for the club in just his third appearance in Saturday's 4-0 win over Gillingham.
"Things are going well for me at the moment and long may that continue but the most important thing is the team," he said.
"I was really pleased with my two goals on Saturday but as a team it was important that we bounced back from the defeat at Yeovil.
"It was a great cross from Andy Holt for my first goal and my second came from some good build up play on the right hand side.
"My confidence is improving with every game but I wouldn't be scoring goals if it wasn't for the players around me.
"I'm really enjoying my football at the moment, the team is going well the Yeovil result aside and hopefully we will continue moving up the table.
"My match fitness still isn't quite there but I'm clear of my injury now and my match fitness will just keep on improving with every game I play.
"I felt a little tweak in my knee ligaments on Saturday which is why the manager brought me off but I'm sure that will settle down this week.
"Obviously being a striker I wanted to stay on to try and get my hat-trick but it was probably the sensible thing for me to come off and hopefully I'll be fine to play at Hartlepool on Friday night."
