Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray has challenged his players to construct another unbeaten run, starting with the visit from Gillingham on Saturday. The Cobblers spell of six games without a loss came to an end thanks to an injury time goal at Yeovil on Tuesday, but now Gray wants another good run to start.

"Our decent run has come to an end but we've now got to move on from that and more often than not when we've had a set back we've bounced back from it and that's what we now need to do against Gillingham on Saturday," he said.

"We've watched the video from Tuesday night and it was just a very poor game from both teams really. It was quite surprising when I watched the video, we probably actually had the better of the possession in the first half but we got done on a couple of counter attacks and the manner of the goal we conceded was probably the most disappointing thing.

"At this stage of the season it's all about results and you perhaps have to give a bit of credit to Yeovil, they nullified our game a bit, we passed the ball OK during certain spells of the game but when we got into their final third we were lacking a bit of quality.

"We're not creating as many chances at the moment as we have been doing, the two forwards are working really hard but we're not quite getting that break in front of goal. We've got to stay positive though and keep working hard.

"I can accept when a player has an off night but what I can't accept is when a player doesn't work hard and I think on Tuesday night one or two of the players fell a little bit short of that.

"Gillingham have dropped into the bottom four but we can't have any sympathy for them, we just need to concentrate on carrying on the decent home form we've got.

"Mark Stimson has strengthened the team since we last played them and he's brought in the lad Simeon Jackson from Rushden. He's got a good goalscoring record all be it at Conference level and his pace will be a problem for defences.

"We've thrown a lot of points away late on in games this season and that is probably where we've missed Chris Doig and the leadership he brings to the side. We should have seen the game out on Tuesday and I've said to the players the more tired you get that's when you've got to kick on and be more vocal to help each other out.

"I think to get into the play-offs at this stage of the season you have got to be winning games and you probably need to pick up an average of 4 points from every 2 games.

"If we put in the same effort and commitment that we did against Leeds I'm sure we can get a result on Saturday but if we put in the same effort and commitment in that we did on Tuesday night then we'll be in trouble."
