Mark Hughes paid tribute to the free kick delivery from Danny Jackman that helped him score the winning goal in Tuesday's 1-0 win over Brighton.

"It was a great delivery from Jacko," he said.

"In training he can deliver the ball into a very exact area and it was just important to get above my marker and meet it well. It's not just the strikers who need to score, we all need to chip in with goals.

"I almost got another goal in the second half. I was off balance but I headed it down as you are told to do but it bounced up and over. The most important thing though was the three points to keep us moving up the table.

"We said that we owed Brighton one after what happened in the second half at their place at the start of the season. We were against the wind in the first half and then it changed round so we were against it in the second half as well so that made it hard, but we kept a clean sheet.

"Brighton have some good players but we are playing with a bit of confidence at the moment. We can't get too ahead of ourselves though, we have to take things one game at a time and try to keep moving up the table.

"We rode our luck a bit but we were due a bit of luck and we take the 3 points and now we are looking forward to Swindon on Saturday.

"We are looking up the table - not down - but we will take each game as it comes and get ready for Swindon on Saturday.

"We knew we had to work hard to tighten up the defensive side of our game. Defending starts with the front two and they have worked really hard in the last couple of games to help us and I think that has been reflected in the three clean sheets."
