BURNELL LEFT TO REFLECT ON MISSED OPPORTUNITY
Joe Burnell was in no doubt as to where the Cobblers lost Tuesday's FA Cup replay at Walsall.
"We were very disappointed after the game because we'd worked so hard but we just weren't cut throat enough in front of goal," he said.
"We had some good chances in the game which probably should have been taken but we are all in it together and as a group we know we need to do better in front of goal.
"We had a few claims for penalties ourselves but we can't blame the referee for us losing the game, we should have taken our chances.
"Our overall performance was OK but at the end of the day we want to be winning games.
"I haven't had too many opportunities this season but when I have played I think I've done OK and I will always give one hundred per cent.
"Hopefully I've done enough to show the manager that I warrant a place in the team on Saturday but I will just have to wait and see on that.
"We are all looking forward to the Forest game on Saturday and there would be no better time for us to get a result.
"Forest are a good team with good players but if we play well and take our chances hopefully it'll be a different story to Tuesday night.
"I thought the team performed well against Carlisle on Saturday and those are the sort of performances that we need to keep replicating if we want to move up the league table."
