Stuart Gray feels his latest new signings have added a degree of power to the Cobblers squad, and have increased his selection options.

"With the additions of Daniel Jones and Poul Hubertz we have now got a bit more of a physical presence about us," he said.

"The bench is looking stronger now as well and I know that if anyone isn't pulling their weight out on the pitch I will have someone who can come on to replace them.

"You have always got to be looking to improve the team but like I've said before I will only bring players to this football club that will improve us.

"I had a good meeting with the Chairman last week and all credit to him he has allowed me to bring in Daniel and Poul.

"I think they will be two great signings for us, Poul gives us that physical presence up front which is important and Daniel is a great young prospect.

"I am pretty well covered in the squad at the moment and flexibility wise I have got one or two players who can play in several positions which is good.

"From that point of view I have got competition for places but the most important thing for the players that have got the shirt is that they will need to perform to make sure that they keep there place in the team.

"More often than not it is the team that finishes a game that is more important than the team that has started the game.

"There is a good spirit in the camp and I know that although the lads that aren't picked on Saturday will be disappointed they will get right behind the team.

"I'd like to think we can finish above where we did last season but we have got to be realistic. I don't want to be negative but first and foremost it is important that we stay in this league and anything above where we finished last year will be a bonus."
