Last summer, here at Sixfields, Northampton Town's Football in the Community Programme organised their annual football festival for players with a disability on the main pitch at Sixfields. This year there were two festivals, one festival for the under 16 age group and one festival for the adults.

The festival at Sixfields is unique for the players because it is played on the main pitch, and it is very rare for players with disabilities to have the opportunity to play on the main pitch at a Football League ground. It is great to say here at Northampton Town Football club that every year for the last six years the club goes out of its way to make sure the festival is run professionally and the day brings enjoyment to all the players who took part.

This years' winners at the Under 16 level were Norwich and the adult winners were Gainsborough Giants. Both Festivals were played in a great spirit and the quality of football is improving each year.

This year the following groups helped in sponsoring the Festivals: Northampton Borough Council, Northampton Town Supporters Limited and Lee Warren Electrical.

Thank you to the following people who helped make the festival a success:
Les Dedman who when he has the time is very supportive of our work. Les is the Bedfordshire's Disability Officer and his experience is invaluable.

Trudy Thornton who does a fantastic job, all the referees - Phil, Terry, Nick, Jarvis, Alan, Samantha and Lewis who were fantastic on the day and Phil our match day presenter was also fantastic.

The St John's Ambulance Team were also superb and we thank them for their assistance.
