The Northampton Town Multi-Disabled team recently enjoyed a fantastic weekend in London.

They stopped at the Britannia International Hotel and having arrived at the venue after the Cobblers pre-season friendly with Coventry City, they had a nice relaxed evening and prepared for the following day.

On the Sunday morning everyone was up early and ready for breakfast. Then it was time to check out and head off to the David Beckham Academy. The venue was fantastic and the Cobblers were drawn in a group with Brighton & Hove, Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle.

Only the top 2 teams would go through to the semi-finals and the Cobblers and Brighton & Hove qualified, along with Everton and Sheffield CP from group 2. The Cobblers were drawn against Everton in the semi finals.

The game got off to a quick start but despite having plenty of possession, the Cobblers found themselves 1-0 down to an Everton breakaway. That lead was then extended to 2-0 and 3-0, before the Cobblers pulled a goal back when striker Tayo was brought down in the box and the ref rightly gave a penalty which captain Chris Holland scored, but it was to prove just a consolation.

The final was between Everton and Brighton, which Brighton won 2-0.

Coaches Kev Rootes, Mustafa el-Bayati and Football in the Community officer Russell Lewis and Disability officer Neil Dowd and all of the parents/carers who accompanied the Cobblers on the trip all commented on how well the lads behaved in the hotel and their professionalism and dedication on the pitch, and all the players made us proud to call them members of Northampton Town Football Club.
