At our disability Centre of Excellence school, the Football in the Community scheme delivers the programme for Northamptonshire FA. Nationally we have had players identified as possible future England players in the visually impaired and cerebral palsy squads, and these players will be invited to England's Development Camps and possibly future England squads.

Unfortunately next season there will be no disability Centre of Excellence programme in Northampton as the Football Association are investing in specific centres around the country in the Paralympics sports which are cerebral palsy, blind and partially sighted.

Players who are currently in the programme will be transferred to these specific groups and also to other football clubs in their area.

It is a shame at Northampton because we have some excellent coaches working on the programme and we are working with other agencies to promote the disability Centre of Excellence to attract more players of certain disabilities in Northamptonshire.

So a big thank you to all the players and parents who have supported the programme over the last three years, with a special thanks to coaches Lee, Robert, Les, Andy and welfare officer Kevin and interpreter Emily. Also disability officer Shaun Waite has helped take the programme forward with lots of paperwork behind the scenes.
