YOUNGSTERS PERFORM WELL

Posted on: Fri 12 Jun 2009

Northampton Town's Disability Centre of Excellence squads recently travelled to Leicester to play their second round of fixtures this season.

The under 14's kept up their unbeaten run, winning all three of their games against Stoke, Leicester and Birmingham. The team performances were of a high standard even though they were playing in arctic conditions!

The first game saw Northampton win 2-1, letting a goal slip in the second half with the opposition's only chance of the match. In the second game the Cobblers won 3-1 and were playing with more confidence going forward, sometimes too much, conceding on the counter attack.

Finally, the third game ended 3-0, a very convincing win, the Leicester keeper kept the Cobblers at bay up until the final 5 minutes of the game when the goals arrived.

The under 17's played some good football. They lost lost their first game 4-1. In the second game was a 4-4 thriller, this was a well contested draw. The final game was cut short due to the worsening weather conditions, resulting in a 0-0 draw.

Overall both teams did really well, can hold their heads high and look forward to the next round of fixtures with confidence, well done all!
