Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd was a frustrated man as he looked back at the 2-1 home reverse against Barnet.

"I don't think we got what we deserved but football has a habit of kicking you when you're down," he said.

"I've been in the game as a manager for six years and I've got a good reputation for not hammering referees but in my opinion there were two big decisions that went against us.

"The push on Michael Jacobs was the most stick on penalty I've ever seen and I have seen it back on the DVD before saying that, and then you get a situation where for their second goal there is a blatant foul on our centre half.

"I always knew that I had a big job on my hands coming here but I'm ready for the fight.

"Today is a low point but we will keep working hard and we will bounce back from this.

"There are areas of the pitch where we need to improve but we will keep searching and we will find that winning formula. We found it at Morecambe and we will find it again.

"We've had a little bit of adversity to deal with but tomorrow is another day and we go again.

"I'm up for the fight and I will make sure that the players are as well.

"Persistence is the key and we will go to Torquay with a point to prove.

"When you are where we are its results that count but you don't get results unless you get consistent performances.

"That's what we are working towards, it's going to take a lot of hard work from behind the scenes and it's going to take a lot of hard work from the players.

"I'm prepared to put that hard work in and the players are prepared to do the same.

"We've got 19 games left and every second of every game is going to be crucial.

"I think the supporters can see that there have been improvements and that the players are giving it a go.

"We are not quite there yet but we will be. I'm going to give everything to make it work because I know in the end it'll be worth it."
