Ian Sampson admitted to a feeling of deep frustration at the end of Saturday's defeat at Crewe.

"I was really disappointed that we didn't take something from the game," he said.

"I thought we dominated for long periods and we were probably the better team for 60 minutes but we didn't show enough professionalism to see the game out.

"We didn't defend well enough in our own box and ultimately a lack of concentration cost us which was disappointing.

"When we went 2-1 up we should have just seen the game out but we maybe just lack the experience to do that.

"I thought we dominated the whole of the first half and for 60 minutes of the game we were probably the better side. I was pleased with the way we played but I was just disappointed we didn't have enough know how to see the game through.

"They scored two goals from our mistakes and that's two games in a row now where we've been caught on the counter attack.

"We thought we had got an equaliser near the end and the players were absolutely convinced the ball had crossed the line but unfortunately the referee thought otherwise. Our players thought it was in, the Crewe players said it was in but the referee just said it was worth another look on the TV which isn't much use to us.

"Chris Dunn picked up a cartilage injury in training on Thursday and he had an operation to clear that up on Saturday morning. He will probably be out for three or four weeks but I thought Billy Lumley came in and did okay. He is our number two goalkeeper and he deserves his chance.

"I've always said what we want to do first of all is consolidate our position in the top half of the table and that is still our aim. We've lost two games on the spin now so we need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible."
