Stuart Gray admitted he was 'shocked and amazed' by the penalty decision that gave Nottingham Forest victory at Sixfields on Friday.

"Our performance was not as good as against Swansea but the conditions were not conducive to a good game of football," he said.

"The effort and commitment was there but most people are talking about the referee's decisions. I was very disappointed by the award of the penalty, but you have to give credit to Forest. They made life hard for us and when we went forward we lacked quality in our final ball at times.

"For the penalty Mark Bunn got both hands on the ball and I was shocked and amazed to see the referee award a penalty. I felt Tyson had over run the ball, Bunny pounced on it, Tyson went over Bunny and the referee gave a penalty and I find that very hard to accept.

"The penalty came from our goal kick that the wind took back and I am just very disappointed in the decision. You can tell from the reaction of the players what they thought. I am not one for players surrounding referees but you could tell what the players thought of it. Whatever we think though, we can't change it now.

"It is a difficult job to be a referee but when both sets of supporters are having a go, there has to be something wrong.

"I felt we were disappointing in midfield tonight, we didn't dominate like we did against Swansea. In the last 10 or 15 minutes we got into good areas but our quality was lacking and when we did get balls in to the box, there were not enough bodies in there.

"Credit to the players we have been on a great run but the manner in which we lost was very disappointing.

"It was a quiet dressing room but we have to pick the lads up and go again at Carlisle on Monday."
