Stuart Gray was a very happy man after seeing his team beat Leyton Orient at Sixfields on Friday night.

"I thought we played some great stuff at times and it was a fantastic team performance," he said.

"It started with the front two, they worked hard and we gave them good service. Ryan Gilligan was lively and a handful and Poul Hubertz held the ball up well. He was a threat in the air and he got his rewards with his penalty.

"Giles Coke is a very good all round player. He can pass with either foot and he timed his run for the goal to perfection. It was a classy goal from a good move and I was very pleased for Giles.

"Mark Bunn deserved his second clean sheet and he and the rest of the team can take great pride from their performance."

The Cobblers boss also confirmed that the club are still hopeful of adding a new striker to the squad before the transfer window closes.

"We made a very good offer to a club for a player and that offer remains on the table," he said. "It is a case of waiting for his current club to come back to us with their response. All we can do is be patient and wait, but we don't only have one target. We don't have all of our eggs in one basket and if that first offer does not come off we do have other irons in the fire.

"We have signed Gabor Gyepes on a deal until the end of the season, with an option beyond that in our favour. I know all about Gabor from my time at Wolves. He is a quality player who was doing very well there until he got injured. He has worked very hard to get fit having spent time on his rehab in both Hungary and Holland and you only have to watch him on the training ground to see the quality he has. He may need a reserve game or two more before he is completely ready for the first team but I know we have got a quality player on our hands.

"Chris Doig is back in training with us. He will probably play for the reserves the week after next and take it from there, but to have him back on the training ground is great news.

"It is a shame that Daniel Jones is going back to Wolves. He has done very well for us and we are sorry to see him go. I am sure he will have benefited from first team football and he has made a good contribution. We owe thanks to Mick McCarthy for allowing us to borrow Daniel for the last few months."
