Stuart Gray was delighted after seeing his Cobblers side beat AFC Bournemouth 4-1 on Friday, the first time they had scored more than three goals in a game at Sixfields since the 5-0 win over Macclesfield in January 2006.

"It's a great win for us and the manner of the victory was very pleasing," he said.

"We were disappointed not to get the three points against Forest last weekend but we thoroughly deserved this victory although we could have and perhaps should have scored more goals.

"We didn't move the ball about as quickly as we should have done in the first half but in the second half we passed it round well and I was really pleased with our attacking play.

"I thought Poul Hubertz's touch early on was a bit poor but from then on everything he did was spot on. He was immense in the second half, he ran the Bournemouth defence ragged and the only thing he didn't do was score a goal. His ball retention was good again and he thoroughly deserved the standing ovation he got from the fans.

"Jason Crowe has done well since he's moved into the midfield but it's not just about one player, it's about the team.

"Daniel Jones had another good game and he deserved his goal. He's bedded in here nicely now, I encourage him to put the ball in with pace because when you do that anything can happen.

"This is a great win for us but what we need to do now is to try and get back-to-back wins when we go to Doncaster."
