GRAY UNHAPPY AT LIBERTY LOSS

Posted on: Wed 05 Dec 2007

Stuart Gray was very unhappy with the performance in Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Swansea City.

"It was a very disappointing evening for us and our performance was simply not acceptable in any way, shape or form," he said.

"We started OK but we then conceded two very poor goals in quick succession. I was very disappointed in the manner in which we conceded the goals and at the moment we are getting punished for every little mistake we make.

"Swansea's players were all hungry for the ball and we ended up chasing shadows. None of our players really come out of this game with any credit apart from perhaps Mark Bunn who made some great saves.

"They were the better side but I need to see a better response from my players when we go behind. I was disappointed with the penalty and at the moment decisions aren't going for us but we can't use that as an excuse.

"We need to start putting things right and we need to start doing that quickly. I'm obviously not enjoying things at the moment because we aren't winning games but I still love my job and I've said to the players not to abuse the privilege of being a professional footballer.

"We aren't doing anything different in training to what we were doing when we were winning games but confidence is such a big thing in football.

"We are looking over our shoulder in the league now and I need to see a reaction from my players against Carlisle on Saturday.

"We've got a young squad but the players need to learn and learn quickly otherwise they will be gone and out of the club. It would have to be a good offer for me to let any of the squad go in January but if I have to do that in order to bring two or three players in then so be it.

"I can assure the fans that we are working very hard in training to try and put things right but we all need to look at ourselves after this performance, myself included.

"We can't feel sorry for ourselves, we've just got to pick ourselves up and get on with it. We've got some difficult games coming up but its upto whatever eleven I put out to start performing. We need to be more difficult to beat and most importantly we have got to start picking up league points again and quickly."
