COBBLERS BEATEN AT ENFIELD

Posted on: Sun 18 Oct 2009

Northampton travelled to Enfield with an injury depleted team. In the first 15 minutes the patched up Cobblers were down two goals due to frailties in defence.

Christie created the only real chance in the first half with a cross for Cox to run onto in a crowded penalty area but was disappointed to see her effort go over the cross bar.

Half time approached and Northampton were four goals down. The manager's disappointment on the sideline was clear and with the experience of Bateman, Robson, Natalie Smith and Thompson coming off the bench they all helped to improve the second half performance.

Only Cox got any serious efforts on target but the Cobblers produced a much improved performance, a dubious penalty awarded close to full time secured a flattering 5 goal win for Enfield.

This experience can only be considered as a learning curve for all and hopefully that with no game until 1st November, Northampton can get their experienced players back to fitness and start pushing the top teams once again.
