Another disappointing result after a promising start that saw the Cobblers go in front early on thanks to a Lizzie Clarke goal.

Unfortunately in the process of scoring against the advancing 'keeper she collided with a post, resulting in a painfully swollen, bruised and cut knee, leaving the Cobblers down to 10 players for 8 minutes while she received treatment.

Although in some pain, and with restricted movement, she insisted on continuing, knowing that the Cobblers only had one substitute. Brave girl!

Despite battling hard in worsening conditions the Cobblers went in at half time undeservedly 1-2 down

Within 3 minutes of the re-start Abi Leech had to be replaced due to illness, and although the whole team worked hard and Lily Hunt in goal made several important saves the Cobblers conceded 3 more goals to finish 1-5.

West Brom are a very good side deservedly on top of the league, physically stronger and more 'streetwise', but not necessarily better footballers than our girls.

Lily Hunt continued to make good progress after her recent return in goal following an absence of 8 weeks recovering from a broken wrist. She was elected the Cobblers player of the match by the West Brom Manager.

Claudia Trotman, Katie Martin and Jamie Dunkley, our 3 sixteen year olds are making good progress, with Claudia having her best game since moving up from the Under 16 group at the girls Centre of Excellence to the senior ladies team.
