LADIES SUFFER HEAVY REVERSE
After a performance of huge character and effort against Ipswich last week, this was a very disappointing result for all concerned. Enfield took an early lead after some sloppy defending really gifted them the opportunity and from then on they never looked like losing the game. The first half was littered with errors and after conceding two more soft first half goals, the team spirit which was there in abundance last week, had disappeared.
The second half was marginally better but clear cut chances were few and far between, with too many players more interested in arguing with the match officials than trying to win the game.
Enfield struck with two more goals and in truth could have scored more as they overran a weak Cobblers midfield, which in turn meant the home defence were always on the back foot.
The Cobblers did have one great chance to score in the dying minutes but Lisa Porters strong run and cross deserved someone to apply the final touch but as with most of the game, Enfield dealt with everything without too much fuss.
So after two games with zero points, the Ladies must now lift themselves for the journey to league newcomers Cambridge. It is absolutely crucial that every team member is supportive of each other and play as a team with strong self belief, to achieve the desired results.
