Northampton Town Football Club joined forces with Northants Cricket to stage the 2009 Golf Challenge at Collingtree Park Golf Club on Monday.

The event, which was the first of a major link up between the town's teams in the national summer and winter sports, allowed supporters and sponsors the chance to represent their chosen club in the tournament and play alongside players and personnel from both the Cobblers and the Steelbacks.

The competition was won by Zinc, who had the best team score of 96. They edged out Sat Insure, who included Cobblers striker Steve Guinan in their side. In joint third place were Jackson Grundy and Cobley Desborough.

Ross Phipps won the longest drive competition, while the nearest the pin award went to Mr S Jackman.

The wooden spoon award went to Evolution team 2, with a score of 64.

After the golf had been completed, the gala evening took place at Greens Restaurant.
