FOOTBALL LEAGUE PODCAST - EPISODE 22

Posted on: Thu 31 Dec 2009

The Coca-Cola Football League podcast is now available to download - and this week host Mark Clemmit looks back over the highlights of the season so far.

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones joined Clem back in August, and described the boost his side got from playing in a new stadium.

He said: "Ninian Park had served its time. It was old and run down - and I think we might have struggled if we'd have gone back.

"The players and staff absolutely love the new stadium. It's given us a big lift."

Ed Lay, drummer of rock band Editors - and lifelong Ipswich Town fan - was also a guest on the Podcast in September.

He explained the difficulties of keeping up to date with scores on tour, and also reveals his first kit is now worn by a teddy bear at his mum's house!

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway spoke to Clem about the great atmosphere at Bloomfield Road, and singled out terrace drummer Daniel Hogg for praise.

Holloway said: "I'm not sure what Hoggy looks like but I do know that he's got some class rhythm!

"I offered him a snog after the Newcastle game but he was probably right to turn me down!"

Stuart McCall also joined Clem on the phone to discuss his non-league shopping spree.

The Bradford City Manager signed ex-hairdresser Steve Williams (from Bamber Bridge), former plumber Scott Neilson (Cambridge City) and James Hanson (Guiseley), who used to work in a local supermarket.

McCall said: "Hanson worked his two-week notice at the Co-Op in pre-season. He used to train with us in the morning then work in the afternoon.

"We had some of our players going in for a pint of milk and James would be there serving them!"
