Johnson made the move from Conference outfit Aldershot in June 2005 after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the two clubs. The talented young central defender had been tracked by a number of League clubs with Aldershot boss Terry Brown declaring that Johnson has a bright future ahead of him. The highly rated youngster scored twice in the Conference in 2004/2005 as the Shots reached the play offs for a second successive campaign. Johnson joined the Shots from Ashford Town back in 2004. Had spells on loan at Gravesend and Grays Athletic in the latter half of 2005/2006.
