The Cobblers got off to a flying start as Jade Tonks intercepted a goal kick and coolly slotted home from close range. Jade then doubled the cobblers lead with a calm right foot finish after a powerful run from midfield. Tiegan Nicklin then made it 3-0 after she picked the pocket of a Watford defender before finding the corner of the goal with great composure. Jade Tonks then completed her hat-trick after the Watford goalkeeper fumbled her powerful strike into the net. Tiya Johnson then completed the scoring in the first period after stabbing home a cross from Lucy Coppin.
Watford recovered in the second half as Cobblers eased their foot from the pedal a little and showed their fighting spirit to score the only goal of the second period to make the score 5-1 going into the final period.
Stand in goalkeeper Beth Allibone picked up a slight injury after making a number of fantastic saves throughout the first two periods and was replaced by Cara Dunford for the final third. Watford once again upped their game and Cara made a couple of great saves but was helpless to prevent Watford from scoring 3 more goals in the final period before Jade Tonks scored her fourth and final goal by slotting the ball past the Watford keeper from the edge of the box.
A decent performance from the Cobblers saw them leave with a 6-4 victory but there is plenty still to be worked on throughout the season.

Although going 1-0 up inside the first 60 seconds, the girls started the game slower than they did the previous week against Oxford. However after the first 10 minutes the girls started to move the ball much quicker and started to dominate the play, this led to the Cobblers going in 2-1 up after the first third.
The second 3rd continued in much the same way with the girls moving the ball comfortably from back to front, the defence looked solid and comfortable not only to receive the ball but when tested with pressure, they responded well. Katie scored to reward Northampton's dominance after being pegged back to 2-2.
The final 3rd was again dominated by the girls and the pressure told when Taylor scored to complete her hat-trick. All round, after the previous good performance the girls worked hard to ensure that the performance level was maintained and reflected in the right result.

The first 25 mins was played at a very high tempo with both teams creating chances, the deadlock was broke when Watford scored a good free kick beating Jodie in goal. Northampton soon responded with a penalty which was coolly taken by Nicola. Watford then played some good football and had a very good centre forward who was causing problems all the time for the back three. Chloe then scored a good goal only for Watford to score just before the end of the third.
The second 3rd was played pretty much the same as the first, Northampton playing some very good football and a first goal scored by Emily made it a good third.
In the final third Watford punished some poor defending and hit the Cobblers very quickly on the counter attack and took their chances well. Jodie made a couple of fine saves to keep the score down, but Watford's physical strength began to show. Further goals from Chloe and Emily made the scoreline more respectable but the girls must play the football they can do for the whole game and not just for small periods otherwise they will get punished like this again.

Northampton got off to a great start and quickly took possession. We had a good chance early on when Amy Sutton made a great pass to Hannah Glasspool, who knocked it on to Daniella Snowden. The keeper came out too far, allowing Daniella Snowden to take a great shot which unfortunately hit the crossbar. Northampton's first corner was soon after but the keeper managed to save it. The Cobblers were putting Watford under great pressure and their first shot on goal went wide. The hard work soon paid off for Northampton within the first 15 minutes, Kelly Billenness striking the ball into the bottom right hand corner. The use of switching play and use of the wings was excellent by Northampton, and Hannah Glasspool made a brilliant forward run and took it round 3 Watford players before passing it on to Daniella Snowden who smashed it past the keeper making it 2-0 to Northampton. A great switch from Jade Tilley to Amy Sutton on the right wing led to a good shot but the Watford keeper made the save. In the last couple of minutes of the first period Watford managed to get a goal making it 2-1.
Watford picked up the tempo in the 2nd half but Northampton rose to the challenge and applied good pressure. Some good chances were created from the defence getting the ball out well but the forwards didn't manage to get a shot in. Watford then scored again after being allowed too much time on the ball and once again a short while later making the score 3-2. Northampton were given a free kick which was taken by by Imogen Ewbank from the far right hand side 35 yards out. The ball flew though the wall and into the bottom left corner to bring Northampton back to 3-3. Although this lifted Northampton's spirits, with only 15 minutes left, Watford picked up the pace and managed to get two goals in before full time. The final score was 5-3 to Watford.
