COBBLERS TEAM UP WITH POLICE AUTHORITY
Northampton Town's Football in the Community Programme has teamed up with Northamptonshire Police Authority.
What is the Police Authority?
They are an independent body set up in 1995 to make sure you have an efficient and effective police service in Northamptonshire. The Police Authority is the means of local accountability for Northamptonshire Police Force and provides an important and transparent link between the public and the police.
What does the Police Authority Do?
The main roles of the Police Authority are to:
Consult local communities within Northamptonshire to find out their policing priorities
Set the budget for the force and decide how much local households should pay for policing within the overall council tax
Set the strategic direction for policing in line with Government directives and decide what the police should focus attention on based on our consultation with local people
Monitor the force's performance, efficiency and effectiveness
Produce a policing and performance plan each year that sets out our policing objectives for the next three years
Appoint the Chief Constable and his senior team
Run an Independent Custody Visitor Scheme.
