WORKING WITH THE COUNTY COUNCIL
Northamptonshire County Council Empowering Councillors and Communities Scheme Supports Schools Coaching Programme in Parklands Ward of Northampton Borough.
Since September 2008, Northampton Town Football Club's Football in the Community Programme has been delivering free football coaching sessions through the Northamptonshire County Council Empowering Councillors and Communities Scheme to primary/ secondary schools in the Parklands Ward of Northampton Borough.
The schools initiative started in September 2008 and will continue up to the school summer term, with over 50 coaching sessions already having been delivered during this period. The initiative has been through invitation only, allowing primary schools and secondary schools to apply for two four week coaching blocks during each half term. So far Thomas Beckett Catholic Secondary School, Parklands Primary School, Kings Meadow School and Earls Barton Junior School have all had coaching within their respective schools.
The coaching sessions have been for duration of one hour a week, with the emphasis on travelling, receiving and sending skills. All sessions have contained warm ups, ball familiarity and cool downs. Northampton Town Football Club's Football in the Community Programme would like to thank County Councillor Brandon Eldred for his support and funding in making this football initiative possible.
