The final of the Girls Year 8 Six a side Football Tournament took place at The Academy School in Northampton. Eight teams took part including Duston School, Weston Favell, Northampton School for Girls, Thomas Beckett, Unity and two teams from the Academy.

There were two groups, and the winners and runners up from both leagues played each other in the semi finals. The Teams who reached the semi finals were the Academy who played Thomas Beckett, and Weston Favell who met Northampton School for Girls.

The Academy and Northampton School for Girls met in the final and they played out an exciting 0-0 draw. The game was settled by a penalty shoot out which the Academy won by 8 successful spot kicks to 7.

The Academy will now go forward to represent Northampton Town at the Area Finals.

All the girls played the matches in an excellent spirit and the quality of the football was very good. A big thank you to Sports Co-ordinator Mr Andy Butler and all the teachers who made the tournament so successful.
