THREE LIONS GIRLS FOOTBALL INITIATIVE
Northampton Town's Cobblers in the Community Scheme has received funding from Northamptonshire County FA. This funding is for delivery of the 3 Lions FC football initiative for girl's football targeting years 5 and 6 in primary schools. The funding enabled the community scheme to provide a free five-week curriculum time, school based coaching session starting in November and continuing through to March 2007. Selected schools in the South Northants and Daventry district have received so far one hour of curriculum time coaching sessions, which are delivered in line with the National Curriculum.
Over 100 girls have benefited so far with another 60 girls benefiting between January and March 2007. Each participant so far has been coached technical skills and takes part in small-sided games each week. During these sessions links have been made with local Charter Standards clubs in order to give all female participants a chance to continue using the skills they have developed at FA recognized Clubs.
Northampton Town would especially like to thank Northamptonshire County FA for their funding and all the local primary schools for their support when taking part. Extended thanks to Jackie Bushell Northamptonshire County FA Football Development Officer for all her support.
