The Cobblers will still be without Alex Revell (calf) for this Saturday’s trip to AFC Wimbledon but boss Justin Edinburgh has revealed that the striker is progressing well.
“Alex is coming on really well and he’s progressing all the time,” he said.
“If the progression continues we will get him back out on the grass next week to increase his running.
“Having Alex back will be a real positive and I think we see the Bolton game as a possibility for him.
“Neal Eardley is back this weekend and with Aaron Phillips and Brendan Moloney competing for that spot as well we have got a real three-way tug of war there. That’s the kind of competition we want right the way throughout the team.
“Sam Hoskins is progressing really well, you always have to be mindful of setbacks with that type of surgery but so far so good and credit to the medical team who have taken great care with him.
“He’s on course for pre-season which is good and that’s a really good goal for him."
Loan rules mean that only five of Lewin Nyatanga, Hiram Boateng, Luke Williams, Gregg Wylde, Michael Smith and Keshi Anderson can make the matchday squad, leaving Edinburgh with a constant decision to make.
“It’s a difficult one,” he said.
“I’d rather all six of them were competing fairly but one of them has to miss out whatever.
“It’s a tricky scenario but I will always do what I feel is right for the team and for each specific game.”
